# Give us access to your tools, safely Step-by-step help to create the keys our automations need and send them to us securely. No technical knowledge needed. Paste this into any AI assistant: ``` Read https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/agents.md and help me give Uplifted Consulting access to my tools. ``` ## Choose how you want to do it - [With an AI assistant](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/your-tools?mode=ai.md): Recommended. Tick your tools, copy one prompt into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Copilot. It walks you through everything. - [Myself, step by step](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/your-tools?mode=self.md): Tick your tools and get your own checklist with a guide for each one. Most take 2 to 5 minutes. ## How it works ### Step 1: Pick your tools We will tell you which tools we need. Tick them on [Your tools](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/your-tools.md), or open a tool from the menu. ### Step 2: Create a key in each tool Each guide shows exactly where to click. New to this? Read [What is an API key?](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/what-is-an-api-key.md) first. ### Step 3: Send them in one secure link Put the keys in one [OneTimeSecret](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/sending-securely.md) link and send us only the link. Never paste a key into email, Slack or WhatsApp. --- Source: https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/ · Updated 2026-10-22 # Your tools Tick the tools we asked for. Then choose: let an AI assistant guide you, or follow your own step-by-step checklist. Interactive tool picker (needs a browser). Clients tick their tools; a link like https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/your-tools?tools=airtable,slack-app means those tools. AI agents: the same data is in https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/services.json and https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/agents.md. --- Source: https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/your-tools · Updated 2026-10-22 # For AI agents Instructions for an AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, a browser agent) helping a client give Uplifted Consulting access to their tools. > **Good to know:** > **Human reading this?** You don't need this page. Copy the line below into your AI assistant, or tick your tools on [Your tools](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/your-tools.md). Paste this into any AI assistant: ``` Read https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/agents.md and help me give Uplifted Consulting access to my tools. ``` ## Your job You are helping a client of **Uplifted Consulting** create credentials (API keys, tokens, client IDs) in their own software accounts, then hand them to Uplifted Consulting through a **single self-destructing OneTimeSecret link**. The end result of your work is exactly one thing: a OneTimeSecret link the client sends to their Uplifted Consulting contact. Nothing else leaves the client's accounts. ## Rules (always follow) ### Step 1: The human logs in Never ask for, type or store the client's passwords or 2-factor codes. When a login screen or 2FA prompt appears, stop and let the human complete it. ### Step 2: Never show a key in the chat Do not repeat, summarise, log or remember any key, token or secret. Move it from the tool straight into OneTimeSecret. If you are a chat assistant without browser control, tell the client up front: "When a key appears, copy it straight into OneTimeSecret, don't paste it here." If they paste one anyway, tell them to delete that message and continue. ### Step 3: Name every key Uplifted Consulting When a tool asks for a key name, label or description, use `Uplifted Consulting`. The client can find and revoke it later. ### Step 4: Least access Select only the scopes or permissions listed on the tool's page. If the page says "use the list we sent", ask the client for it. ### Step 5: Don't break existing keys Never delete, regenerate or rotate a key that already exists unless the tool's page explicitly says it is safe. Prefer creating a new key. Regenerating can break other software that uses the old key. Exception: a key **you just created in this session** for Uplifted Consulting can be deleted and recreated (for example if it was shown once and lost). ### Step 6: No spending without permission Never upgrade a plan, add a payment method or buy credits. If a step needs one, stop and tell the client what it costs and why. The exception is spend **limits** (caps), which you should set as the guide says. ### Step 7: Check what Uplifted must send first Some tools need inputs from Uplifted Consulting before the client can start (a Slack manifest, a redirect URL, a list of bases). They are listed at the top of each tool page and in `inputs_from_uplifted` in [services.json](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/services.json). If the client doesn't have a required one, skip that tool and mark it **blocked: waiting for Uplifted**. Items marked optional have a stated default. ### Step 8: Stop when unsure If the screen doesn't match the guide, a button is missing, or a choice isn't covered, stop and ask the client. Describe what you see. Don't guess. ## Procedure ### Step 1: Agree the list of tools Ask the client which tools Uplifted Consulting asked for. Match them against the [machine-readable index](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/services.json) or [llms.txt](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/llms.txt). ### Step 2: Read the page for each tool Fetch the Markdown version of each tool page, for example `https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/services/airtable.md`. Each page lists what is needed, who can do it, the plan required, and numbered steps. ### Step 3: Do the steps, one tool at a time **If you control a browser:** open the start URL from the page, wait for the human to log in, then do the steps. Confirm with the client before each click that creates or changes something. **If you can't control a browser:** guide the client one step at a time. Wait for them to confirm each step before giving the next. ### Step 4: Collect everything in one OneTimeSecret Tool pages tell a human doing one tool to make one link. When you handle several tools, use **one** link for all of them instead. Open [eu.onetimesecret.com](https://eu.onetimesecret.com). In the text box write each tool's name on its own line followed by its values. Set **Expiration Time** to **7 days**. If the bundle contains Stripe, Google or other payment keys, also set a **Passphrase** and tell the client to send it by a different channel than the link. Then click **Create Link**. Full details: [Send a key safely](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/sending-securely.md). ### Step 5: Hand over the link, never open it Give the client the link and tell them to send it to their Uplifted Consulting contact. Do not open the link yourself: it works only once. ### Step 6: Report back Finish with a short table: tool, status (done / blocked), and the reason when blocked. No keys in the table. ## Example bundle format ``` Smartlead API key Airtable personal access token Airtable Base ID Slack Bot User OAuth Token Slack Signing Secret <...> ``` ## Machine-readable files | File | What it is | | --- | --- | | [/agents.md](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/agents.md) | Start here: rules, procedure and every tool in one file | | [/llms.txt](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/llms.txt) | Index of every page, with links to Markdown versions | | [/llms-full.txt](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/llms-full.txt) | The whole guide in one Markdown file | | [/services.json](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/services.json) | Every tool as JSON: what's needed, role, plan, start URL, steps | | `/.md` | Markdown version of any page, for example [/services/smartlead.md](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/services/smartlead.md) | --- Source: https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/for-ai-agents · Updated 2026-10-22 # What is an API key? The 2-minute explanation. Read this once and everything else makes sense. ## The simple version An **API key** is a password for software, not for people. - You log in to Smartlead with your email and password. - Our automation logs in to Smartlead with an **API key**. Same account, same data. Different door. ## Why not just give you my password? - **Your password**: Opens everything. Changing it logs out everyone. Often protected by 2-factor codes on your phone, so automations can't use it anyway. - **An API key**: Made only for us. You can switch it off any time, without changing your own password. Some tools let you limit what it can do. ## Names you will see Tools use different names for the same idea. They all mean "a secret code our automation uses to get in": | Name in the tool | What it is | | --- | --- | | API key | The most common. One long code. | | API token / Access token / Personal access token | Same idea as an API key. | | API secret | A second code that comes with the key. Send both. | | Client ID + Client Secret | A pair, used for "Sign in with..." connections (Slack, Google, Teamleader). Send both. | | Workspace ID / Base ID / Administration ID | Not secret. Tells us **which** account to use. Send it with the key. | ## What a key looks like A long string of random letters and numbers, for example: ``` sk_live_51Hx8aB2kQ9vT0dE3fG7hJ... ``` > **Careful:** > Copy the **whole** thing. Use the copy button in the tool when there is one. A key with one character missing will not work. ## Some keys are shown only once Many tools show the key **one time**, right after you create it. If you close the window, you can't see it again. That is normal and safe. If that happens: delete the key and create a new one. It takes 30 seconds. ## Next - [How to send a key to us safely](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/sending-securely.md): Takes 1 minute. Do this for every key. --- Source: https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/what-is-an-api-key · Updated 2026-10-22 # Send a key safely (OneTimeSecret) Every key goes through a self-destructing link. Takes 1 minute, no account needed. ## Why we do it this way If you paste a key in an email or chat, it sits there forever: in your inbox, our inbox, backups, and anyone who gets into those accounts later. **OneTimeSecret** gives you a link that works **once**. After we open it, the key is deleted from their server. If anyone opens the link later, they see nothing. > **Good to know:** > Free, no account needed. Data is stored in the European Union if you use the link below. ## Step by step ### Step 1: Copy the key from the tool Follow the page for that tool in this guide. Keep the key on your clipboard. ### Step 2: Open OneTimeSecret (EU) Go to [eu.onetimesecret.com](https://eu.onetimesecret.com). This stores the secret in the EU. ### Step 3: Paste the key, with a label In the big text box, write what it is on the first line, then paste the key. For example: ``` Smartlead API key a1b2c3d4-e5f6-... ``` If the tool gave you two codes (like **Client ID** and **Client Secret**), put both in the same box, each on its own line with its name. ### Step 4: Set the expiry to 7 days Under **Expiration Time**, choose **7 days**. This is the maximum without an account. ### Step 5: (Optional) Add a passphrase For payment or Google keys, type a short **Passphrase**. Send it to us by a **different** channel (for example by phone or WhatsApp if the link goes by email). ### Step 6: Click Create Link Click **Create Link**. You see a page with your link and a copy button. ### Step 7: Copy the link and send it to us Copy the link and send it to us by email or Slack. The link is safe to send: it doesn't contain the key itself. > **Careful:** > **Do not click the link yourself.** It works only once. If you open it, the key is gone and we can't see it. If that happens, just make a new link. ## Good to know ### Can I put several keys in one link? Yes. One link can hold up to 10,000 characters. Put each key on its own line with the tool name above it. ### How do I know you received it? Keep the receipt page open (or bookmark it). It shows when the secret was viewed. ### I sent the link to the wrong person On the receipt page click **Burn this secret**, then confirm. The link stops working. If it was already viewed, delete the key in the tool and create a new one. ### The link expired before you opened it Nothing leaked. Create a new link with the same key and send it again. How we store keys, and how to switch them off. ## Our rules - We only ask for access we need for the automations we are building for you. - Keys are stored in an encrypted credential store, never in email, chat or documents. - Only the people working on your project can use them. - When our work together ends, we delete them. You should also switch them off (see below). ## Your rules (please follow these) ### Step 1: Never send a key in plain text Not by email, Slack, WhatsApp, Teams or text message. Always use [OneTimeSecret](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/sending-securely.md). ### Step 2: Name your keys clearly When a tool asks for a name, call it **Uplifted Consulting**. Later you can see which key is ours and remove it in one click. ### Step 3: Give limited access when the tool allows it Some tools let you pick what a key can do (these are called "scopes" or "permissions"). Each page in this guide tells you exactly what to tick. ### Step 4: Set spending limits on AI tools For OpenAI, Anthropic and OpenRouter, set a monthly limit. The pages show how. ## How to switch off our access Go back to the same screen where you created the key and click **Delete**, **Revoke** or **Remove** next to the key named "Uplifted Consulting". It stops working immediately. > **Careful:** > Our automations stop working the moment you delete a key. Tell us first if the automations are still in use. ## Think a key leaked? Delete it right away and create a new one. Then send us the new one. No harm done: that is exactly what keys are designed for. --- Source: https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/security · Updated 2026-10-22 # Troubleshooting The problems almost everyone hits, and the fix. ### I can't find the settings / API page Most likely your user is not an admin. Ask the person who owns the account (often whoever pays the bill) to follow the steps, or to make you an admin. ### The tool says my plan doesn't include API access Some tools only give API access on paid plans. Each page shows the plan needed. Tell us before upgrading: sometimes there is another way. ### I closed the window and can't see the key anymore Normal. Many tools show it only once. Delete that key and create a new one. ### There is already a key. Should I make a new one? Yes, make a new one named **Uplifted Consulting**. Don't reuse a key another tool or agency is using. If the tool only allows one key, copy the existing one instead of regenerating it: regenerating breaks whatever uses the old one. ### The OneTimeSecret link says it has already been viewed Only we should open it. If we didn't, someone else did. Delete that key in the tool, create a new one and send a new link. ### I'm not sure I copied it correctly Send it anyway. We will test it within a day and tell you if it doesn't work. ### The screens look different from the guide Tools change their design often. Look for the same words (Settings, API, Developers, Integrations). Still lost? Confirm. > **Note:** > If you see a button to open the developer portal first (for example **Access dev portal**), click it, then look for **Create integration**. ### Step 3: Paste our redirect URL Find the field for redirect URLs (it may be called **Valid redirect URIs**). Paste the redirect URL we sent you. Paste it exactly. Do not add spaces. > **Careful:** > Teamleader only accepts the exact URL. One wrong character and the connection will fail. ### Step 4: Tick the permissions (scopes) In the scopes list, tick every permission on the list we sent you. Then click **Save**. ### Step 5: Copy the Client ID and Client Secret After saving, Teamleader shows the **Client ID** and **Client Secret**. Copy both. > **Careful:** > Copy both codes in full. We need both. ### Step 6: Approve the connection later Once we have the codes, we send you a login link. Open it, log in to Teamleader, and click to allow access. That's it. > **Note:** > You do not need to publish the integration or submit it for review. It stays private to your account. ## Option B: invite us as a user Use this only if we agreed on it. It uses one user licence. ### Step 1: Open Users In Teamleader Focus, go to **Settings**, then **Users**. ### Step 2: Add us Click **Add user** and enter the email address we gave you. Send the invite. ### Step 3: Give the right access If we asked for admin access, click the three dots next to our name and choose **Give admin rights**. ## Send it to us - [Send it with OneTimeSecret](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/sending-securely.md): For Option A: paste the Client ID and Client Secret into one OneTimeSecret note, create the link, and send us **only the link**. Label it "Teamleader Client ID and Secret". For Option B, just tell us the invite is sent. ## Something not right? ### I can't log in to the Marketplace build page Use the same email and password as your Teamleader Focus account. If it still fails, ask an admin of your Teamleader account to do these steps. ### The connection says the redirect URL is wrong Open your integration on the build page and check the redirect URL. It must match ours exactly, including `https://` and any slash at the end. Fix it, click **Save**, and tell us. ### I can't add a user (Option B) Your plan may have no free user licences left, or you are not an admin. Use Option A instead, or ask your account admin. If you are not an admin, see [I am not an admin](#something-not-right) below. > - **Plan needed:** any Slack plan, including the free plan ## What is happening here Our automations need their own "member" inside your Slack. In Slack this is called an **app**. You create the app, so you stay in control. You can remove it at any time. We send you a short settings file called a **manifest**. It already contains the app name, what the app is allowed to do, and our web address. You paste it in. You do not need to choose any settings yourself. ## Before you start - Log in details for your Slack workspace. - The manifest we sent you (a block of text). Keep it open. - [OneTimeSecret](https://eu.onetimesecret.com) open in another tab. You will use it to send the values. [How it works](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/sending-securely.md). ## Step 1: Create the app ### Step 1: Open the Slack apps page Go to [api.slack.com/apps](https://api.slack.com/apps) and log in with your Slack account. ### Step 2: Start a new app Click **Create New App**. ### Step 3: Choose 'From a manifest' A window opens with two choices. Click **From a manifest**. ### Step 4: Pick your workspace Choose your company workspace from the list. Click **Next**. > **Tip:** > If you are in more than one workspace, pick the one we are automating. ### Step 5: Paste the manifest Delete any text already in the box. Paste the manifest we sent you. Click **Next**. > **Careful:** > The box has two tabs, **JSON** and **YAML**. Use the tab that matches what we sent you. We will tell you which one. ### Step 6: Check and create Slack shows a summary. Click **Create**. ## Step 2: Install the app in your workspace ### Step 1: Open OAuth & Permissions In the left menu of your new app, click **OAuth & Permissions**. ### Step 2: Install it Click **Install to Workspace**. ### Step 3: Allow access Slack shows what the app can do. Click **Allow**. ## Step 3: Copy the 4 values You will copy 4 values. Paste each one into a note for now, with its name next to it. ### Step 1: Copy the Bot User OAuth Token Stay on **OAuth & Permissions**. Under **OAuth Tokens**, find **Bot User OAuth Token**. Click **Copy**. > **Done:** > It starts with `xoxb-`. If yours starts with `xoxp-`, you copied the wrong token. ### Step 2: Open Basic Information In the left menu, click **Basic Information**. Scroll to **App Credentials**. ### Step 3: Copy the Client ID Copy the value under **Client ID**. ### Step 4: Copy the Client Secret Next to **Client Secret**, click **Show**. Copy the value. ### Step 5: Copy the Signing Secret Next to **Signing Secret**, click **Show**. Copy the value. > **Careful:** > Do not click **Regenerate** on any of these. That creates a new value and breaks the old one. ## Step 4: Add the app to your channels The app can only read and post in channels it has joined. Do this in the Slack app itself, not on the website from Step 1. ### Step 1: Open a channel Open each channel we told you the automation needs. ### Step 2: Invite the app In the message box, type `/invite @` and the app name. For example `/invite @Uplifted Automations`. Press **Enter**. > **Tip:** > The app name is in the manifest we sent you, next to `name`. ### Step 3: Repeat Do the same for every channel on our list. ## Send it to us - [Send it with OneTimeSecret](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/sending-securely.md): Put all 4 values into **one** OneTimeSecret note, each on its own line with its name. Create the link and send us **only the link**. Label it "Slack app". Your note should look like this: ```text Bot User OAuth Token: xoxb-... Signing Secret: ... Client ID: ... Client Secret: ... ``` ## What a manifest looks like > **Note:** > We will send you the exact manifest. This is just an example so you know what to expect. Do not copy this one. ```yaml display_information: name: Uplifted Automations description: Automations built by Uplifted Consulting features: bot_user: display_name: uplifted-automations always_online: true oauth_config: redirect_urls: - https://YOUR-N8N-DOMAIN/rest/oauth2-credential/callback scopes: bot: - chat:write - channels:read - channels:history - groups:read - groups:history - im:read - im:write - im:history - users:read - users:read.email - reactions:read - reactions:write - files:read - files:write settings: org_deploy_enabled: false socket_mode_enabled: false token_rotation_enabled: false ``` What the main parts mean: - **name**: the name your team sees in Slack. - **redirect_urls**: our web address. Slack sends you back here after you approve the app. - **scopes**: what the app is allowed to do. For example, `chat:write` lets it post messages. `users:read.email` lets it see email addresses of people in your workspace. - **token_rotation_enabled: false**: keeps the connection from expiring. Please leave this as it is. ## Something not right? ### I am not an admin Many workspaces only let admins install apps. You can still do Step 1. In Step 2 you may see **Request to Install** instead of **Install to Workspace**. Click it. Your admin gets a request to approve. Once they approve, come back to **OAuth & Permissions** and continue from Step 3. If this is slow, ask your admin to do the whole page instead. ### Slack says the manifest has an error Check you are on the right tab (**JSON** or **YAML**). Check you pasted the whole text, from the first line to the last. If it still fails, send us a screenshot of the error. ### I can't find the Bot User OAuth Token The token only appears after you install the app. Finish Step 2 first, then go back to **OAuth & Permissions**. ### The app can't see or post in a channel It has not been invited. Do Step 4 for that channel. Private channels need an invite too. ### We asked for new permissions later We will send you an updated manifest. In your app, click **App Manifest** in the left menu, replace the text, and click **Save Changes**. Slack will ask you to reinstall the app. Click **Reinstall to Workspace**, then **Allow**. Your token stays the same unless we tell you otherwise. ### How do I remove the app later? Go to [api.slack.com/apps](https://api.slack.com/apps), open the app, click **Basic Information**, scroll to the bottom and click **Delete App**. Our automations stop working in Slack right away. About 15 minutes. > **AI agents:** follow the rules at https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/for-ai-agents.md. For company accounts, an admin is best. > - **Plan needed:** none. This part of Google Cloud is free. ## What is happening here Google does not give out simple keys for Gmail. Instead, you create a small private "connection" in Google Cloud. It belongs to you. Only your account (or your company) can use it. There are 4 parts: 1. Create a project. This is a folder in Google Cloud. 2. Switch on Gmail (and any other Google tools we need). 3. Fill in a short form about the connection. 4. Create the keys and send them to us. At the end you sign in once with Google to say "yes, allow this". ## Before you start - Which Google tools we need. We will tell you. Usually Gmail. Sometimes also Google Drive, Sheets or Calendar. - The **redirect address** we sent you. It looks like `https://YOUR-N8N-DOMAIN/rest/oauth2-credential/callback`. - [OneTimeSecret](https://eu.onetimesecret.com) open in another tab. [How it works](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/sending-securely.md). - Know which kind of account you have: #### Google Workspace (company email) Your email ends in your company name, like `name@yourcompany.com`, and you pay Google for it. This is the easier path. Follow the **Google Workspace** tabs below. #### Personal Gmail Your email ends in `@gmail.com`. This works too, but needs one extra step, and the connection may need a refresh every 7 days. Follow the **Personal Gmail** tabs below. ## Step 1: Create a project ### Step 1: Open Google Cloud Go to [console.cloud.google.com](https://console.cloud.google.com). Log in with the Google account we are automating. If asked, accept the terms. ### Step 2: Open the project list At the top of the page, click the project picker. It may say **Select a project**. ### Step 3: Create a new project Click **New project**. Name it `n8n automations`. Leave the other fields as they are. Click **Create**. ### Step 4: Select it Wait a few seconds. Open the project picker again and click your new project. Its name now shows at the top of the page. > **Done:** > Always check the project name at the top before each step below. ## Step 2: Switch on the Google tools ### Step 1: Open the API Library Go to [the API Library](https://console.cloud.google.com/apis/library). You can also use the menu: **APIs & Services** then **Library**. ### Step 2: Switch on Gmail Search for **Gmail API**. Click it. Click **Enable**. ### Step 3: Switch on the others we asked for Go back to the Library. Do the same for each tool on our list: - **Google Drive API** - **Google Sheets API** - **Google Calendar API** - **Google Docs API** Only switch on the ones we asked for. > **Note:** > If we need Sheets or Docs, also switch on **Google Drive API**. They need it to work. ## Step 3: Fill in the connection form Google calls this the **Google Auth Platform**. It used to be called the "OAuth consent screen". ### Step 1: Open Google Auth Platform Go to [Google Auth Platform](https://console.cloud.google.com/auth/overview). Click **Get started**. ### Step 2: App information For **App name**, type `n8n automations`. For **User support email**, pick your own email. Click **Next**. ### Step 3: Audience: who can use it This choice matters. Pick based on your account type. #### Google Workspace Choose **Internal**. Click **Next**. Internal means only people in your company can use it. Google does not need to review it. The connection does not expire. #### Personal Gmail Choose **External**. Click **Next**. **Internal** is greyed out for personal Gmail. That is normal. ### Step 4: Contact information Type your email address. Click **Next**. ### Step 5: Finish Tick the box to agree to the **Google API Services: User Data Policy**. Click **Continue**, then **Create**. ### Personal Gmail only: add yourself as a test user #### Google Workspace Skip this. Go to Step 4. #### Personal Gmail ### Step 1: Open Audience In the Google Auth Platform menu on the left, click **Audience**. ### Step 2: Add test users Under **Test users**, click **Add users**. Type the Gmail address we are automating. Click **Save**. > **Careful:** > Your connection is in **Testing** mode. In this mode Google ends the sign-in after **7 days**. We will tell you if we need to change this. See "The connection stopped after 7 days" below. ## Step 4: Create the keys ### Step 1: Open Clients In the Google Auth Platform menu on the left, click **Clients**. Or go to [the Clients page](https://console.cloud.google.com/auth/clients). ### Step 2: Create a client Click **Create client**. ### Step 3: Choose the type For **Application type**, choose **Web application**. For **Name**, type `n8n`. ### Step 4: Add our redirect address Scroll to **Authorized redirect URIs**. Click **Add URI**. Paste the redirect address we sent you. > **Careful:** > Paste it exactly. No space at the start or end. One wrong letter and the sign-in fails. ### Step 5: Create Leave **Authorized JavaScript origins** empty. Click **Create**. ### Step 6: Copy both values now A window opens with your **Client ID** and **Client Secret**. Copy both into a note, each with its name. > **Careful:** > **Google only shows the Client Secret this one time.** Copy it before you close the window. You can also click **Download JSON** to save a copy. If you lose it, see "I closed the window before copying the secret" below. ## Step 5: Send it to us - [Send it with OneTimeSecret](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/sending-securely.md): Put both values into **one** OneTimeSecret note. Create the link and send us **only the link**. Label it "Google client". Your note should look like this: ```text Client ID: 1234567890-abc...apps.googleusercontent.com Client Secret: GOCSPX-... ``` ## Step 6: Sign in with Google (5 minutes) This is the last step. We set up the connection in our automation tool (n8n). Then we send you a link, and you approve it with your Google account. ### Step 1: Click 'Sign in with Google' Open the link we sent you and click **Sign in with Google**. ### Step 2: Pick your account Choose the Google account we are automating. ### Step 3: Approve Google lists what the connection can do, for example "Read, compose and send emails". Tick the boxes if shown. Click **Continue** or **Allow**. #### Google Workspace You should go straight through. #### Personal Gmail You will see **Google hasn't verified this app**. This is expected. The app is yours, so it is safe. Click **Continue**. > **Done:** > Done. We will confirm the connection works. ## Simpler alternative Don't want to do Steps 1 to 5? We can skip them. We use our own existing Google connection instead. You only do Step 6, with a sign-in link we send you. - This only works if your company allows it. Some Google Workspace admins block outside apps. If yours does, your admin can allow our app, or you follow the full guide above. - For personal Gmail, Google may show a warning or limit how long the sign-in lasts. We will tell you before you start. Reply to our email if you want this option. ## Something not right? ### I can't choose Internal **Internal** only works for company Google Workspace accounts that have an organization in Google Cloud. If it is greyed out on a company account, your project may have been created outside your company organization. Ask your Google Workspace admin to create the project, or choose **External** and follow the Personal Gmail steps. ### I closed the window before copying the secret No problem. Go to **Clients**, click the client named `n8n`. Under **Client secrets**, click **Add secret**. Copy the new secret straight away. You can then delete the old one. ### The sign-in says 'redirect_uri_mismatch' The redirect address does not match ours. Go to **Clients**, open `n8n`, and check **Authorized redirect URIs**. Fix it, click **Save**, and wait 5 minutes. Google can take a while to update. ### The sign-in says 'Access blocked' or 'access_denied' For personal Gmail: the account is not a test user. Add it under **Audience** then **Test users**. For Google Workspace: your admin may block outside apps. Send them this page. ### The connection stopped after 7 days (personal Gmail) This is Google's rule for apps in **Testing** mode. Do Step 6 again to reconnect. To stop it happening, we may ask you to go to **Audience** and click **Publish app**. Your app is then "In production" but unverified: you will keep seeing the "Google hasn't verified this app" warning, but the sign-in no longer ends after 7 days. We will guide you if this is needed.
