You will use it to send the key. [How it works](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/sending-securely.md). ## Get your API key ### Step 1: Log in to Smartlead Go to [app.smartlead.ai](https://app.smartlead.ai) and log in. ### Step 2: Open Settings Click **Settings** in the left sidebar. ### Step 3: Go to the API section In Settings, open the **API** section. ### Step 4: Generate and copy the key If you don't have a key yet, click **Generate New API Key**. Then click copy next to the key. > **Careful:** > Copy the whole key. It is a long string of letters and numbers. ## Send it to us - [Send it with OneTimeSecret](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/sending-securely.md): Paste the key into OneTimeSecret, create the link, and send us **only the link**. Label it "Smartlead API key". ## Something not right? ### I don't see Settings or API You are probably logged in as a team member without admin rights. Ask the account owner to do these steps, or to give you admin access. ### Will generating a new key break anything? If you already have a key that other tools use, copy the existing key instead of generating a new one. A new key can replace the old one, and tools using the old key would stop working.
