# Teamleader Focus

Create a private Teamleader integration and send us its Client ID and Client Secret. About 10 minutes.

## Inputs from Uplifted Consulting needed before starting

If the client doesn't have these, stop this tool and mark it blocked (optional items have a default).

- The redirect URL for our automation tool
- The list of permissions (scopes) to tick

> **Good to know:**
> - **What we need:** a Client ID and a Client Secret (Option A), or a user invite (Option B)
> - **Time:** about 10 minutes
> - **Who can do this:** a Teamleader Focus admin
> - **Plan needed:** any Teamleader Focus account. Option B needs a free user licence on your plan.

Teamleader does not use a simple API key. Instead, you create a small private "integration" in Teamleader. It gives you two codes: a **Client ID** and a **Client Secret**. We use them to connect. Then you approve the connection with one click.

## Before you start

- Admin log in details for your Teamleader Focus account.
- The redirect URL we send you. It is a web address. Keep our message open.
- The list of permissions (scopes) we send you.

## Option A (recommended): create an integration

### Step 1: Open the Teamleader Marketplace build page

Go to [marketplace.focus.teamleader.eu/build](https://marketplace.focus.teamleader.eu/build) and log in with your Teamleader account.

### Step 2: Start a new integration

Click **Create integration**. Give it a name, for example "Uplifted Consulting". Confirm.

> **Note:**
> If you see a button to open the developer portal first (for example **Access dev portal**), click it, then look for **Create integration**.

### Step 3: Paste our redirect URL

Find the field for redirect URLs (it may be called **Valid redirect URIs**). Paste the redirect URL we sent you. Paste it exactly. Do not add spaces.

> **Careful:**
> Teamleader only accepts the exact URL. One wrong character and the connection will fail.

### Step 4: Tick the permissions (scopes)

In the scopes list, tick every permission on the list we sent you. Then click **Save**.

### Step 5: Copy the Client ID and Client Secret

After saving, Teamleader shows the **Client ID** and **Client Secret**. Copy both.

> **Careful:**
> Copy both codes in full. We need both.

### Step 6: Approve the connection later

Once we have the codes, we send you a login link. Open it, log in to Teamleader, and click to allow access. That's it.

> **Note:**
> You do not need to publish the integration or submit it for review. It stays private to your account.

## Option B: invite us as a user

Use this only if we agreed on it. It uses one user licence.

### Step 1: Open Users

In Teamleader Focus, go to **Settings**, then **Users**.

### Step 2: Add us

Click **Add user** and enter the email address we gave you. Send the invite.

### Step 3: Give the right access

If we asked for admin access, click the three dots next to our name and choose **Give admin rights**.

## Send it to us

- [Send it with OneTimeSecret](https://guide.upliftedconsulting.com/start-here/sending-securely.md): For Option A: paste the Client ID and Client Secret into one OneTimeSecret note, create the link, and send us **only the link**. Label it "Teamleader Client ID and Secret". For Option B, just tell us the invite is sent.

## Something not right?

### I can't log in to the Marketplace build page

Use the same email and password as your Teamleader Focus account. If it still fails, ask an admin of your Teamleader account to do these steps.

### The connection says the redirect URL is wrong

Open your integration on the build page and check the redirect URL. It must match ours exactly, including `https://` and any slash at the end. Fix it, click **Save**, and tell us.

### I can't add a user (Option B)

Your plan may have no free user licences left, or you are not an admin. Use Option A instead, or ask your account admin.
