- What we need
- 1 API key (a master key)
- Time
- about 3 minutes
- Who can do this
- an Apollo admin, or a user with permission to manage API keys
- Plan needed
- all Apollo plans include basic API access. Some features need a paid plan. Each lookup uses your Apollo credits.
Before you start
- Log in details for your Apollo account, with admin rights.
- OneTimeSecret open in another tab. You will use it to send the key. How it works.
Get your API key
Log in to Apollo
Go to app.apollo.io and log in.
Open Integrations
Open Settings, then click Integrations.
Open the Apollo API
Find Apollo API in the list and click Connect next to it.
Go to API Keys
Click API Keys. Then click Create new key.
Name the key
Type a name, for example "Uplifted Consulting". Add a short description if asked.
Turn on master key
Switch on Set as master key. This lets the key use every part of the API. Without it, some of our work fails with an error.
Tip
If you prefer to limit access, tell us first. We will tell you exactly which endpoints to tick instead.
Create and copy the key
Click Create API key. Then copy the key straight away.
Careful
Copy the whole key and keep it private. Anyone with this key can act in your Apollo account.
Send it to us
Send it with OneTimeSecret
Paste the key into OneTimeSecret, create the link, and send us only the link. Label it "Apollo API key".
Something not right?
I don't see API Keys or Create new key
Only admins, or users with API key permission, can make keys. Ask your Apollo admin to do these steps, or to give you that permission under Settings then User Management.
I don't see Set as master key
You may not have full admin rights. Ask an admin to create the key, or tell us and we will list the exact endpoints to tick.
Will a new key break anything?
No. Apollo lets you have several keys. A new key does not stop your other keys from working. Just do not delete keys that other tools use.
