- What we need
- 1 API key
- Time
- about 2 minutes
- Who can do this
- the person who owns the forms (the key works with that person's access)
- Plan needed
- Tally does not list the API as a paid feature. Webhooks are free on all plans.
Before you start
- Log in details for your Tally account.
- OneTimeSecret open in another tab. You will use it to send the key. How it works.
Get your API key
Log in to Tally
Go to tally.so and log in.
Open API keys
Go to Settings, then API keys. Shortcut: tally.so/settings/api-keys.
Create the key
Click Create API key. If asked for a name, type "Uplifted Consulting".
Copy the key
Copy the key straight away. It starts with
tly-.Careful
Tally shows the key only once. If you lose it, create a new one.
Send it to us
Send it with OneTimeSecret
Paste the key into OneTimeSecret, create the link, and send us only the link. Label it "Tally API key".
Only need form answers? Use a webhook instead
If we only need new form submissions, a webhook may be simpler. Then no key is needed. We send you a web address, and you add it to the form:
- Open the form and go to the Integrations tab.
- Click Connect next to Webhooks.
- Paste the web address we sent you and save.
Something not right?
The key stopped working
Tally keys belong to the person who made them. If that person leaves your Tally team, their keys stop working. Create a new key from an account that will stay.
I closed the window before copying
Create a new key and copy it this time. You can delete the old one on the same page.
We can't see some of your forms
The key can only see what its owner can see. Create the key from the account that owns the forms, or give that account access first.
